I never imagined I'd become a Massage Therapist. I didn't spend much time thinking about the future or mapping out my career; I just wanted to get out of the small town I grew up in, but knew I needed to have some sort of direction. So, on a whim, I enrolled in a Massage Therapy program at a medical tech school across the country in Phoenix, AZ.
It was only after starting classes that I realized how much massage resonated with me. What began as a spontaneous decision grew into a deep passion through education and hands-on training. Now, over two decades later, I'm still rocking it as a Massage Therapist.
Throughout the years massage has become much more than a profession to me – it’s an old friend, whose steadfast presence always brings me home. Together, we’ve navigated countless new beginnings and endings, sharing in both successes and failures. We keep things vibrant by continually learning new things about one another and seeking out experiences that bring growth and enrichment to our practice. We understand each other so well now that we are perfectly content to sit together in peaceful silence for hours and just be.
So…what do you do?
The question, “What kind of massage do you do?” comes up often, and even though it’s something that is better to experience than have explained, I will do my best to answer that question here.
As a graduate of The Bryman School of Phoenix, I received more training hours and education credits than the state of Maryland requires, earning me the title of Licensed Massage Therapist. This advanced training means I graduated with certifications in more modalities than most standard programs offer, including:
Swedish
Deep Tissue
Trigger Point Therapy
Reflexology
Sports Massage
Myofascial Release
Prenatal Massage
Lymphatic Drainage
Additionally, I’ve pursued continuing education to earn certifications in:
Hot Stone Massage
Cupping Therapy
Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques
Upledger CranioSacral Therapy
Lomi Lomi (a traditional Hawaiian healing practice -which is special to me because I received my training while living on Maui)
Why you should schedule a massage with me.
By integrating all the modalities I have mastered over the years, I am able to provide each client with a massage experience that is uniquely tailored to their individual needs. My approach centers on attentively listening—not only to what clients express, such as their specific concerns and goals for the session, but also to the subtle cues communicated by their bodies. I believe that nothing should be forced during a massage; instead, I work collaboratively with your body to achieve your desired outcome for the session. This method ensures a meaningful and effective experience, leaving you feeling heard, cared for, and better than you did before you arrived at the massage table.
